Things To Keep In Mind When Hiring A Car After An Accident

If you've been in a car accident, the last thing you want to worry about is how you're going to get around. That's where a hire car comes in. A hire car is a rental vehicle that you can use while your own car is being repaired. But if your car is totaled or needs extensive repairs, you may have no choice, there are some things to keep in mind when hiring a car after an accident.

1. Your insurance company may have a list of recommended rental companies. Check with them first to see if there are any special rates or deals.

2. Make sure you understand the terms of the rental agreement before signing anything. In particular, find out how long you can keep the car and what kind of mileage limits there are.

3. Ask about additional insurance coverage. Your personal auto insurance may not cover damage to a rental car, so you'll need to purchase additional coverage from the rental company if you want protection.

4. Be aware that your credit card may provide some coverage for damage to a rental car. Check with your card issuer to find out what's covered and what's not.

5. Compare prices from different rental companies before making a reservation. Just because one company is recommended by your insurance company doesn't mean it's the best deal out there.
